ST Microelectronics France (Crolles)
Description of the organisation
STMicroelectronics is one of the world’s largest semiconductor companies with net revenues of US$ 7.40 billion in 2014. Offering one of the industry’s broadest product portfolios, ST serves customers across the spectrum of electronics applications with innovative semiconductor solutions by leveraging its vast array of technologies, design expertise and combination of intellectual property portfolio, strategic partnerships and manufacturing strength. ST-Cr2 is the R&D and Manufacturing 300mm plant of STMicroelectronics developing the 300mm process flow and manufacturing the Photonic Integrated Circuits (PIC) and the Electronic Integrated Circuits (IEC) to be used by some of the partners of the project (ST-Cr2, ST-I, LETI).
Role in the project
In COSMICC, ST-Cr2 is involved in all WPs except WP1. WP2: ST-Cr2 will fabricate the photonic fibre-coupling structures of Type 2, measure the resulting Si and SiN waveguide propagation losses and provide a fab run for evaluating standalone components for PIC v2. WP3: ST-Cr2 will co-design and fabricate the PIC sub-system for PIC V1 and PIC V2. It will define the enhanced photonic-fabrication process, and provide test structures for evaluating its performances. It will Cr2 will design, fabricate and test adv-PIC B. WP4: ST-Cr2 will provide info on PIC Modulator and Photo Detector, Wafer fabrication for EICv1 and v2. WP5: ST-Cr2 will contribute to the definition of the PIC and EIC specifications, make the 3D stacking of EIC v1 / v2 and PIC v1 / v2 and support the testing of the 3D-stacking. WP6: ST-Cr2 will contribute to the dissemination and exploitation of results.
